The Search for Joy.

Anyone remember that Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo? She’d challenge people to hold something in their hands and ask, “Does it spark joy?” I remember scoffing at that. “Pssh. It’s just a thing. Toss it, keep it — whatever.”
Years later, I get it.
I have a bin full of failed designs from the past five years of working on what is now called Rapid Adapt Pedal Extensions. Dozens of iterations. With each one, I’d convince myself, “THIS is it!” I’d settle into the idea that it was good enough. But deep down, I wasn’t excited. And if I wasn’t excited, how could I ever expect anyone else to be?
So the prototypes just sat there.
Eventually, a push to move forward (more on that in another post) led to another round of design — and then another. Until finally, I held a final production sample in my hand and thought, “THIS. This is it. This sparks joy.”
I met with some designers and engineers after that, and they were still tossing around improvement ideas — but most of them were things I’d already tried, tested, and ruled out. I knew what they were holding was the one. And when you know, you know.
My hope is that when you get your pedal extensions in the mail, when you pick them up for the first time, they spark joy for you too.
And every time you pop them on or off... every new car you drive... I hope you feel that small spark again. That sense that this — this feels a little more like how life is supposed to be.
